The minutes of the January meeting were agreed on Friday 12th March and are now ready to view by clicking here:
At this meeting the Board built on the discussion at November’s meeting to consider how they could help shape and support Sheffield’s recovery from Covid-19. They also received a short briefing on the developing Employment & Skills Strategy.
10.30 am - Minutes and Matters Arising
10.35 am - Sheffield’s Recovery from Covid-19: charting the way forward - Maddy Desforges and Angela Foulkes introduced and framed the discussion, before we moved the Board into three smaller break out groups which took turns to engage with the following questions:
1) What should our vision be for Sheffield around Covid recovery – thinking about the breadth, timeframe and scope of what we need to cover?
2) What workstreams do we need to deliver this vision - how do we best break it down into more manageable chunks?
3) What systems and structures do we already have that can pick up these workstreams; what are the gaps?
Following this, we asked each Board member to give one key reflection on the discussions they were part of, before moving on to summing up and next steps.
11.45 am - Skills & Employment Strategy - Kevin Straughan, Head of Service, Lifelong Learning & Skills, Sheffield City Council briefed the Board on work so far on the Skills & Employment Strategy, with the offer of a separate session to be set up for more detailed engagement with interested Board members if desired.
