The minutes of the March meeting were agreed on Friday 12th July and are now ready to view by clicking here:
This meeting we welcomed the new SCR LEP Chair, James Muir, and had an extended discussion with members of the UK2070 Commission on regional inequality. We also updated on the engagement work and the planned State of Sheffield Engagement Event.
11.00 am SCR LEP Update, James Muir
11.45 am UK 2070 Commission, Professor Vincent Goodstadt, Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Manchester
Professor Goodstadt began by giving a presentation to the Board (click here to view). A structured conversation then took place around the following three questions:
1) What evidence do we have of structural disadvantages which contribute to regional inequalities? And what are these?
2) If we were able to think long-term and think big, imagining that we could access whatever funds we needed, what would we want to do locally?
3) In terms of these local ambitions, are there still things which require a stronger and better national framework?
