Sheffield City Partnership Board minutes - March 2017
At the start of the year, the Sheffield City Partnership agreed to focus on developing an Inclusive and Sustainable Growth Strategy as our main priority for 2017/18. This will include exploring what the city could do in terms of creating more opportunities for people to participate fully in the economy and prosper from it, better connecting people to those opportunities, and considering the broader factors which influence this, including health & wellbeing, safety and security, and inequality and fairness. Board members will look to develop recommendations in specific areas such as education and skills, employment support and attracting more and better jobs.
This meeting in March was designed to kick-off the discussion on the Inclusive & Sustainable Growth agenda, with inputs from SPERI (University of Sheffield), Sheffield City Region and Creative Sheffield (Sheffield City Council). The aim of the meeting was to define priority areas for the strategy and agree next steps in terms of planning meetings and work.
It was agreed that the next meeting in May would focus on the importance of ‘joining-up education, skills and work’ to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth, with the aim of identifying some key issues and practical recommendations.
