Sheffield City Partnership supports the establishment of a Race Equality Partnership

Sheffield City Partnership Board is supporting the creation of a Race Equality Partnership for the city, which will launch in February 2024.

The Race Equality Partnership will be an active, collaborative network of people and organisations with a shared aim to make Sheffield an anti-racist city. It will provide space to share learnings, hold each other to account, and monitor our progress towards fulfilling all of the recommendations put forward by the Race Equality Commission in its report last year.

The new body will be led by an independent Chair, who will be recruited in early 2024. The Chair will help to ensure that community voices and organisations can come together as equals within the Race Equality Partnership. A launch event will be held on Monday 5 February, which also marks the start of Race Equality Week. This event will be open for members of the public to attend, in line with our ambition for the Race Equality Partnership to be ‘for and led by Sheffield people’.

We will share further details of the launch event and the recruitment process for the Chair in due course. In the meantime, we are keen for this process to be as open as possible, so please feel free to send your ideas, thoughts and questions to sheffieldcitypartnership@sheffield.gov.uk
